Finishing School

Well, I have finished piecing my quilt top, now what? Of course, send the top to finishing school. Come and learn how to layout a quilt for pinning, methods for quilting, and how to bind.
Suggested Material and Tools:

Sewing machine in good working order (needles, thread, bobbins, presser feet) with sewing needles (recommend sizes 80 or 90)

Quarter-inch foot for the machine or another method for making a quarter- inch seam

Good long Egyptian cotton thread. It is recommended to choose a thread of a neutral color so it will blend in with whatever is used for background and faces.

Rotary cutter

Cutting mat (available for use in the
classroom if you wish)

Scissors
- Curved safety pins
- Plastic clips
- Kwik Klip tool
- Masking tape
- Iron (available in the classroom)
- Long pins
- Rulers Recommend the 6" × 24"Omnigrid or Creative Grid ruler.
- The 3"× 18" and 1" × 6" is also useful
- Two pieces of material at least 12" × 12" or larger and
- one 12" × 12" piece of batting (for making the quilt sandwich).
- A strip of fabric 21⁄2" ×36" (for binding)
