Skill Details: You will learn machine embroidery applique techniques, repeating each design 4 times to make a circular design, positioning techniques, making a curved topper and cutting and sewing bias binding.

Requirements: Janine Babich Designs Petite Table Toppers Collection #3 - Winter Holiday - please make sure to download the holly leaves/berries and candy cane design to your machine or to a USB in the correct format for your machine. Sewing/Embroidery Machine with any of the following hoop sizes - 120x120, 150x150 or 240x150. Size 80 or 90 machine embroidery needle and 80/12 universal or sharps needle for sewing 60 wt white bobbin thread for machine embroidery; sewing bobbin thread that coordinates with your backing. Either machine embroidery thread or regular sewing thread that coordinates with your binding. Fabric - a kit is available that matches the store sample or you will need the following: 1 fat quarter of background fabric 1 fat quarter backing fabric 1 fat quarter of fabric for binding - binding will be cut on bias 10" square of white fabric for candy canes 10" square of green for holly leaves 18" square of fusible fleece 2 - 10" squares of fusible web e.g. Heat and Bond Lite 1 yard of 5/8" red satin ribbon ( included in kit) PRIOR TO CLASS - cut background and backing fabric into 18" squares. Fuse the fusible fleece to the wrong side of the BACKGROUND fabric. Fuse the fusible web to the wrong side of the 10" squares of white and green. If you use a white fabric other than what is in the kit, check to see if your background fabric will show through the white fabric - if it does it is suggested to fuse a light weight interfacing (eg Pellon SF101) to the back of the white fabric prior to fusing the fusible web. After fusing the fusible web to the white and green fabrics precut the fabrics as follows (leave the paper backing on the fusible web) - white fabric: cut 4 - 4x4 1/2" rectangles; green fabric: cut 4 - 3x5" rectangles Machine embroidery thread to coordinate with your green and white fabrics. The following colors were used for the fabrics in the kit: green- Robinson Anton 2457, white- Robinson Anton 2297 and red - Robison Anton 2419. White marking pen e.g. Clover or Bohin iron away marker - will be used to mark background fabric Mesh Cutaway or light weight tearaway stabilizer - you will need 8 pieces cut to fit the hoop you are using. If you have a sticky tear away stabilizer this is great for stitching the holly leaves but not required. Spray adhesive, Pins, snips, scissors to trim applique shapes, rotary cutter, rotary cutting ruler (24" long for marking is best), safety pins for pinning for quilting
