Confident Beginning Quilting will build upon the piecing skills by focusing on half square triangles, corner connectors and sashing with cornerstones. This class will use fat quarters and yardage for piecing the quilt top.
Students may choose to make a crib, lap, twin or queen sized quilt (class sample quilt is a crib size).
Cutting and sewing homework is required.
Test-drive one of our computerized sewing machines to complete your quilt.
You must purchase the book "Fat Quarter Style" by It's Sew Emma Patterns (the pattern for this class is on page 23). Choose size of quilt you wish to make and purchase the number of fat quarters required for that size. Fat quarters can be prints, solids or fabric that reads as a solid. Fabrics should coordinate. Purchase a fabric to use for background and borders, accent, and sashing based on size you are making. Binding fabric should coordinate with quilt blocks-purchase amount per pattern (this can be a solid or print fabric). Purchase the backing fabric as recommended for the quilt size you are making. Batting size will depend on the size quilt you are making (suggest Tuscany 100% cotton).
