Beginning Quilting 102 expands on the quilting skills learned in Beginning Quilting 101. This class will focus on the use of fat quarters to piece blocks for a quilt. Students will also learn how to cut and sew sashing strips and border strips for their quilt.
Students may choose to make a crib, lap, twin or queen sized quilt. Store sample is a lap size quilt.
Cutting and sewing homework is required.

Fat Quarter Style book by It's Sew Emma (the quilt used for this class is "Mosaic" found on page 26), choose the size of quilt you wish to make and purchase the number of fat quarters required for that size (fat quarters can be prints, solids or fabric that reads as a solid - all fabrics should coordinate). Purchase a fabric to use for sashing and borders based on quilt size you are making - you will want a more solid color for the sashing and borders, Binding fabric should coordinate with quilt blocks-purchase amount per pattern (this can be a solid or print fabric), backing fabric per quilt size, Batting for the size quilt you choose. Also, please bring your sewing machine in good working condition with foot control, power cord and bobbin (you may use a classroom machine for work in class, but you will need a sewing machine at home to complete the work required for class), 1/4 inch quilting foot for your sewing machine, machine needles size 80/12 Topstitch or Sharps, Basic Essential Sewing Supplies (scissors, seam ripper, straight pins, etc.), 45 mm rotary cutter and cutting mat, Clover Fine Patchwork Pins, Acrylic Rotary Cutting Ruler, cotton thread-50 weight in a neutral tan or grey, hand sewing needles for applying binding, Best Press fabric starch, tape measure-at least 60 inches but may want one that measures 100 inches, Clover Wonder Clips to use on binding.
